Feast of St Luigi Orione at Lucena, Philippines

CHAPEL OF SAN ROQUE, TALAO-TALAO
Today 2013-05-16 the Lucena Community celebrates the feast of St Luigi Orione at the chapel of San Rafael, Dalahican, Quezon Province, Philippines.

The Most Reverend Emilio Marquez, Bishop of Lucena has come to celebrate our founder’s feast day at the chapel he entrusted to our congregation in 2010, when he accompanied our Superior General, Fr Flavio Peloso and Fr Martin Mroz and others to this place which had been somewhat abandoned.  Now after nearly three years he has come to bless not only the new facade of the chapel, the new statue of St Luigi Orione but also the Confreres, Fr Martin Mroz and Fr Joseph Van Cu Nguyen and all the people and volunteers who have worked so hard to revive the faith of the local people and give them, together with the Eucharistic Bread of the Risen Lord, the Bread of food for hungry bodies, the Bread of health for sick bodies and the Bread of education for minds and hearts thirsting for truth.
Our presence as sons of Don Orione in the Church is not one which seeks high positions or power but only to serve people with Jesus Christ who cares for the souls, spirits and bodies of people, humbly at the feet of the Pope, bishops and priests of the Church, so that all may experience the sweetness of God who is truth, love and mercy.

NEW STATUE OF ST LUIGI ORIONE, DALAHICAN
During the past years there have been established feeding programmes, medical missions, literacy classes, catechism classes and many other initiatives to help this people who live by the sea at Dalahican and Talao-talao, not far from Lucena City. To achieve all this, the generous help of parishioners and friends from our parish at Payatas, Quezon City, Manila has been crucial, showing how the lay people, the Orionine Lay Movement and our Sisters are crucial in the mission of the  spiritual family of Don Orione in the Church and in the world.
